RIDHA
was pleased to host the ADHA President, Lynn Ramer. It was a busy
weekend. On Saturday November 7th RIDHA hosted a district 1 legislative
summit with 5 states in attendance. The meeting was mediated by
District 1 Trustee Diane Peterson, and Lynn Ramer. Many issues were
discussed including: whitening kiosks, Bylaw compliance, and Lynn Ramer
gave an overview as to what is happening across the country. Saturday
evening concluded with a cocktail party sponsored by Tom's of Maine,
which was open to all members, and student members. It was a wonderful
evening filled with great food, friends, colleagues mingling and music
(Tollgate String Quartet).
The weekend
continued with an address by the ADHA President at our CE brunch, and
an exceptional course given by Mary Foley on Fluoride. We had sponsors
from Crest, Colgate and 3M available for questions, as well as vendors
for some holiday shopping. A raffle was done to raise money for the
SmileTrain Charity, in which $160.00 will go to a great cause. Thank
you!
It was great to host the ADHA President, have an
informative CE and be able to network and mingle with colleges all in
one weekend. Thanks to all who volunteered, sponsored, and attended
our event -RIDHA is you!

The RIDHA Fall Brunch meeting was held on November 16, 2008 at the Radisson Airport Hotel. The program featured a very informative presentation by Shannon Nanne, who spoke on the oral effects of systemic diseases. The event also included presentation of the Hygienist of the Year Award to Robin Williams for her many contributions to the association. The Rhode Island Dental Hygienists’ Association congratulates Robin for her dedication to our membership and the dental hygiene profession. Robin also created and donated a beautiful hand-made quilt which was raffled off at the brunch, with proceeds benefiting breast cancer research and awareness. Our guest speaker, Shannon Nanne, was the lucky winner of the raffle! On Friday November 14th, RIDHA Executive Council members held a “welcome to the profession” party for the 2008 CCRI Dental Hygiene class. The gathering offered a great opportunity for the graduates to reunite with one another while networking with veteran hygienists. Special thanks go out to Melissa Sullivan for opening her home and hosting the event!
