Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) Update for Dental Hygienists
Patient Screening, Diagnosis, Treatment
· Participant will be able to describe current Anatomy and physiology of OSA and associated co morbidities.
· Review current diagnosis and treatment statistics, screening tools, AASM diagnostic testing, and treatment options.
· Provide a review of current Patient Assessment tools , Standard Screening tools, Oral cavity observation, OSA (Snoring) and effects on oral cavity(Uvula ,Gums , )
· Review Insurance industry /payer support and how sleep Screening, Diagnostics and Treatment models including Oral Appliances /Mandible Advancement Devices for OSA.
· Participant will review “Sleep Educator /Case Manager” role in the sleep center
· Identify treatment options and combinations(Multi modality) (CPAP,Dental,CBT, ENT Surgery , Wght Loss)
· Review Oral Appliance and OSA application, diagnostic testing, and titration guidelines.
· Review Current (AASM) Accredited Sleep Center diagnostic and treatment guidelines.
