Mission Statement

To promote dental hygiene as a profession, the mission of RIDHA is to improve oral health as a part of the public's total health, to advance the art and science of dental hygiene by ensuring access to quality oral health care, promoting the highest standards of dental hygiene education, licensure, practice and research; and to represent and to promote the interests of dental hygiene in the State of Rhode Island

Celia M. Willis, RDH, BS
President's Message

Thank you to everyone for supporting me in this new position as President.  I started my work with RIDHA a few years ago as an Alternate Delegate and went on to further serve as Secretary for two years as well.  It has truly been a learning experience as well as a lot of fun.  The group of dedicated hygienists I have worked with are so inspiring.  As a clinical hygienist of 18 years, and always a member during that time, I am proud to say that this organization has something for everyone.  There are various positions with different commitment levels so any hygienist can become involved.  It can be as simple as volunteering for an event or two to becoming president.  But the most important thing is membership.  Our dues go toward things like excellent CE courses and legislation to protect our practice acts.  Our numbers are influential and powerful when legislative issues come forward.

RIDHA is dedicated to the individual hygienist.  We are here to support and lend guidance.  I would like RIDHA to be the primary professional resource for all hygienists in this state, in essence, your dental hygiene “home”.  Please feel free to utilize us, as we are here for you, the membership.  We strive to be an inclusive association and I would like your membership to mean something to you.

RIDHA will be working on a social event for hygienists in RI, separate from a CE course, just so we can enjoy and meet new people or reconnect with former colleagues and have a good time.  I hope many of you will take the opportunity to attend this informal gathering to get to know more hygienists, especially if you are new to our state, a recent graduate or a current student.

Thank you again for your support and I look forward to serving you and getting to know more of you!
